Drive to Sigiriya with a Dambulla Cave Temple stop. Settle into a nature resort. Overnight in Sigiriya.

Sigiriya - Rock Climb and Dry-Zone Landscapes
Sunrise Sigiriya climb, rest and an afternoon village walk or the Pidurangala viewpoint. Overnight in Sigiriya.

Sigiriya to Knuckles
Transfer through Matale spice corridor to the Knuckles Mountain Range. The final mountain road section can be narrow, so suitable vehicle planning is required. Overnight in Knuckles.

Knuckles - Full Trekking Day
Guided trek through cloud forest, ridgelines, waterfalls and village landscapes. Picnic lunch in nature. Overnight in Knuckles.

Knuckles to Kithulgala
Morning soft walk or birdwatching before driving to the rainforest river valley of Kithulgala. Overnight in Kithulgala.

Kithulgala - Rainforest and River
White water rafting with trained guides, followed by a waterfall walk, a natural pool swim or a forest trail. Overnight in Kithulgala.

Kithulgala to Nuwara Eliya
Drive into high tea highlands. Tea estate visit, factory explanation and cool-climate rest. Overnight in Nuwara Eliya.

Horton Plains to Ella
Early Horton Plains World’s End trail. Continue to Ella by scenic rail or a road-rail option depending on train timing. Overnight in Ella.

Ella - Hiking Day
Little Adam’s Peak, Nine Arch Bridge and an optional Ella Rock climb for stronger hikers. Overnight in Ella.

Ella to Sinharaja
Drive toward Sri Lanka’s lowland rainforest. Afternoon forest-edge walk and a naturalist briefing. Overnight near Sinharaja.

Sinharaja - Full Rainforest Day
Dawn naturalist-guided rainforest walk focusing on endemic birds, reptiles, butterflies, canopy systems and rainforest ecology. Overnight near Sinharaja.

Sinharaja to Yala
Drive toward Yala with landscape changes from rainforest to dry zone. Naturalist briefing on responsible safari etiquette. Overnight near Yala.

Yala Safari to Tangalle
Dawn safari in Yala, subject to park status. Continue to Tangalle for beach recovery and rest. Overnight in Tangalle.

Tangalle - Recovery Day
Beach leisure, an Ayurveda massage, lagoon kayaking, Mulkirigala Rock Temple or a quiet reading day. Overnight in Tangalle.

Tangalle to Colombo - Departure
Transfer to Colombo or the airport with comfort stops. Departure.

Knuckles trails from May to October may include leeches – gaiters and salt are provided in advance
A 4WD or a carefully assigned vehicle is recommended for Knuckles mountain access
Yala Block 1 should be checked from May to September – Udawalawe substitutes if needed
Fitness level: active – this is the most physically demanding of the twelve journeys
